There are 28,000 individuals in our Credit Union. Of those 28,000 names, only one is changing --- ours. Fort Belvoir Federal Credit Union has changed its name to Belvoir Federal Credit Union, but you’ll still get the same great member service --- the same friendly faces, same great rates, and same warm smiles.

These changes will not affect your membership at all. As a current member of the Credit Union, you will always be a member. And, your family members will always be eligible for membership, regardless of where they live.

So, if nothing is changing, why change the name? We realized that the Installation and our community of potential members are changing. With the Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommendation to move about 20,000 people to the Fort Belvoir Installation, the time was right to redefine the Credit Union as all-inclusive for our members and potential members and to find a new name.

 

As we serve the Fort Belvoir Installation, the makeup of our potential membership has and will continue to change. Fort Belvoir is now a more civilian installation. We wanted to find a name that would be more inclusive, while still maintaining ties to our rich heritage. 

 

When Lord Fairfax named his plantation Belvoir (Beautiful to See), he was providing a name that did, and continues to, describe both the shores of the Potomac River and the entire region. The Northern Virginia area is still “beautiful to see”, be it in the diversity of our population, the still-preserved natural areas, the men and women serving our country in uniform or out, and our exciting and vibrant business community.

Belvoir Federal will continue to provide the products, service, information and advice you need to provide the foundation for your financial success. That’s one thing that will never change!
